Just took the “which super-hero are you” quiz, which Jol pointed me to. I think I like what it says about why I’m Green Lantern. Plus, he’s kinda cool, right?

Hot-headed. You have strong will power and
a good imagination.

Just a quick entry while eating lunch. I’ve been really trying to work on eating better for the past few weeks – less junk fat food and smaller portions. So far, it’s going pretty well, though not exceptionally (I’ll probably never follow through with a diet as well as I did in 2003 in DC). Today for lunch, I had a wrap with ham/lettuce/sprouts/mustard, a banana and a pudding snack pack. Not bad, though just not as tasty as I wanted. I want a burger or something. haha.

I’ve been getting better about working out, particularly on days when I work at home. I’m at steelray’s offices today, so no working out during lunch. I didn’t work out yesterday either, so I’ll have to do something when I get home tonight. Katy is home late and we have leftovers from Tuesday, so I’ve got plenty of time to hit the gym or go for a bike ride.

Also, an update on the anniversary. Last night’s dinner was awesome. I’ve slowly been enjoying steak that is less done lately. I grilled the steak (Ribeye) and went retardo mode and didn’t use the meat thermometer (seems less useful when flipping, I need an instant-read digital guy instead for that situation), and it came out more like medium-rare than medium. However, it was really damn good. It was a bit too fatty of a cut, but the meat was tender as hell and the creamy horseradish sauce was awesome. Also, I made the best batch of garlic mashed potatoes ever (not too garlicky, not too buttery, just damn good) and had some steamed broccoli to accompany. Picked up a bottle of Cotes du Rhone French goodness that went perfectly with the meal. Katy and I were the bad kids and finished off a pack of smokey treats that I bought to celebrate my birthday. mmmm, smokey treats. It was a great night, ending with about an hour of good times under the sheets. ;)

I chose a pretty interesting day to get started blogging (as a side, I’ve grown to hate the term “blogging” and have decided to consider this nothing more than an online journal, so I’m not going to be a “blogger” per se, rather some dude who keeps a journal online). Anyhows, today is interesting because it’s my third wedding anniversary. Whoo!! Being married is pretty awesome – much more so than being engaged, which totally sucked (Dear Moms: we love you, but you were stink pots during that time) – it’s actually really easy and really fun to be totally “all in” with a relationship. I guess we’re pretty lucky, but for the most part things have been really easy. My theory is that we were both burned by fake relationships with no discussions about what we needed out of them, and we both somehow made ourselves change that in this relationship. I see it as lucky to have found each other at the right time, but not lucky that we’re working so well, because we work at it and work isn’t luck.

Since we do about four things in the span of two weeks – Grandma’s bday, Christmas, my birthday, Laura’s birthday, New Year’s and our Anniversary (ok, so six things) – we don’t buy gifts or go out for our anniversary. Instead, we hang at home and cook and just relax. Knowing us, we’ll watch some HGTV, get naked, then watch some more HGTV as we fall asleep. On the dinner menu is our current favorite steak preparation, Grilled Porterhouse with Horseradish Cream Sauce. mmmmmmm.
